This information is used to measure the number of visitors to the various sections of our website and identify performance or problem areas. Authorized individuals may also use this information to help us develop the site, analyze patterns of usage, and to make the site more useful. We do not share or sell visitor data for the purposes of advertising, marketing, or any other commercial purpose. This information is not used for associating search terms or patterns of site navigation with individual users. The information that is automatically collected and stored concerning your visit includes:

  • The domains that you connect to when visiting the site
  • the date and time of your visit

Information you provide us directly and indirectly

Smoke Signal is an event and RSVP management tool. It provides visitors the ability to create, update, and delete "events" as well as create, update, and delete "rsvps" to events that are their own or created by others. Events and RSVPs are stored in the PDS (personal data server) of their respective owners and Smoke Signal is not the "owner" of the events, but instead it provides tools that reference and interact with that data.

When creating events through Smoke Signal, the event information includes:

  • The name and description of the event
  • The start time and end time of the event

When creating RSVPs through Smoke Signal, the RSVP information includes:

  • The RSVP status as "interested", "going" or "not going" as it pertains to the user's intent of engagement with the event
  • The event as a "strong ref" of the event, where "strong ref" is an event AT-URI with an associated commit identifier

Indirect information can be DIDs, events, and RSVPs not provided directly to Smoke Signal, but instead "discovered" through references.

An example, would be a user RSVP'ing to an event through Smoke Signal using an AT-URI for an event that was not created through it. The AT-URI would contain the repository (user DID) as well as the reference to the event by way of the NSID and rkey.

Children and privacy

Smoke Signal is not made specifically for children and makes no attempt to verify the identity of the user. This site is not intended to solicit or collection information of any kind from children.

Analytics and advertising

Smoke Signal does not use or engage with any analytics services.
